About Me
Amanda Mcgahan
I have been painting and sculpting for many years. Residing in Cairns Australia for the last 13 years, I have completed Certs and Diploma of Visual Arts and participated in many group exhibitions in the region. I have had three solo exhibitions at Kickarts, Vivo, and Baileys Crystalbrook.
After selling my sculptures in many local galleries for years i decided to set up my own gallery, The Kite Gallery, that I have run for the last three years. This has been a hive of activity, running workshops and holding many exhibitions for the Cairns community. As a Mental Health Support worker I utilise my skills as an artist and work with art as a tool for my clients mental wellbeing.
Wrapping up the gallery I am looking forward to having more time dedicated to creating new pieces with my partner Michael Fischer focasing on mixed media ceramics in our studio Barron River Studios

About us
Amanda Mcgahan and Michael Fischer
Amanda and Michael first worked together in 2017 creating wall sculptures for a solo exhibition at Vivo, Palm Cove. As the Gallery was wall exhibition space only, Michael created timber and other mixed media box frames while Amanda created a body of work within each piece, Amandas ceramic sculpture told a story and many pieces sold quickly. Amanda and Michael have now set up Barron River Studios at Michaels home where they are on a creative journey starting with The Musicians Collection. They are looking forward to expanding their collection nationally and internationally.
